Heat and moisture/humidity will absolutely aggravate eczema. My son and I are very fortunate to live in Southern California where the climate is dry and relatively moderate. However, I used to live in San Antonio, Texas and the heat and humidity were miserable for my eczema.

If you live in a place that gets hot and humid, it’s important to keep your skin as cool and dry as possible. I’ll post some tips and tricks including washable/reusable bamboo “paper” towels and rechargeable fans.

Also, an eczema flare can also feel “hot” and if you have skin breaks, they can become infected which is called a “hot spot”! I keep reusable ice packs in the freezer (I’ll post some durable flat ones later, but anything you have should do). If I have eczema on my neck or dermatitis on my scalp, I put an ice pack on a towel right under my pillow case cover and the coolness calms the itchiness and feels refreshing on a hot summer night!
